Purpose
The purpose of Digital Research Infrastructure is to provide funding for the procurement or establishment of digital infrastructure for addressing key scientific questions in the field that could not otherwise be investigated. While the Carlsberg Foundation encourages interdisciplinary research, there must be a strong humanities or social sciences aspect.
Who?
The applicant must hold a tenured position as associate professor, senior researcher, professor WSR, research professor, or professor at one or more Danish, Greenlandic, or Faroese research institutions.
Eligible research institutions are:
- Universities
- State-owned museums
- State-approved museums that apply the research career structure used by state-owned museums
- Sector research institutions
- Institutions of artistic higher education
- VIVE, DIIS, GEUS, the Defence Academy, the Danish Institute in Rome, the Danish Institute in Athens, provided that they apply the research career structure used by universities.
The following institutions are not eligible:
- Hospitals
- University Colleges
What?
The minimum amount that can be applied for is DKK 300,000. There is no maximum amount.
Projects must start no earlier than 1 January 2027 and no later than 1 September 2027.
It is only possible to apply for funding for the procurement or establishment of digital infrastructure:
- Procurement of register data
- Access to databases
- Establishing databases and text corpora
In cases involving the establishment of databases it is possible to apply for salary for a research assistant for a period of up to 12 months. The research assistant must hold a Master's or PhD degree and may only be employed to construct new infrastructure, not to maintain or operate existing systems.
Salary costs for data managers, technology developers, or similar roles cannot be applied for. However, it is possible to apply for student assistant salaries.
